The Everest region is one of the popular trekking areas in Nepal because the name “Everest” is magic in itself. Mt. EVEREST (8848m.) is called “SAGARMATHA” in Nepali-“Higher than the sky” and “CHHOMOLUNGMA” in Tibetan-“Mother Goddess of the Earth”. The “khumbu’ or “Everest” region would probably be the most popular trekking destination, but it is more difficult to get to Solu Khumbu than to the Annapurna area. Solu Khumbu is excusably famous, not only for its closeness to the world's highest mountain, Mt. Everest (8848 metres), but also for its Sherpa villages and monasteries.
Trek in this region takes one to the foothills of the mightiest of the mountains in the world. The trekking passes through rhododendron and pine forests, rivers, Sherpa villages, Buddhist Monasteries and from temperate to snow line regions. During this trekking, the trekkers get a close view of the world's greatest mountains, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Thamserku, Tawache and others.
Trekking might be the most popular tourist activity in Nepal but for travelers who want ultimate adrenaline rush, bungee jumping is the thing.
The Tsum Valley is a sacred Himalayan pilgrimage valley situated in a trans-Himalayan region of Gorkha, Nepal.
