This trek is also known the small Annapurna Circuit and one of the very popular one trekking in Nepal. The breathtaking mountain scenery and the beautiful ethnic villages justify the popularity of Ghorepani Poonhill trekking. The trail continues through patchwork valleys, dense mossy forests and past icy waterfalls. The trekking is famous for the spectacular mountain scenery through charming villages inhabited by the Gurungs, Magars dense rhododendron forests full of birds and deep sub-tropical valleys, all set below the Annapurna with the picturesque Peak of Machhapuchhare (Fish Tail Peak) dominating the skyline.
The trek starts from the beautiful Modi Khola River, after an hour of drive from Pokhara. From Ghorepani and Poonhill, we can get an even better and close up views of two ranges, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. During this up and down trek, we can have the close and panoramic view of Annapurna Sanctuary as well as scenic rice fields, lush forest of rhododendron and beautiful villages mostly inhabited by Gurungs and Magars. Himalayan Peaks of Annapurna such as Annapurna South (7,219m), Annapurna II (7,937m), Annapurna III (7,555m), Annapurna IV (7,525m) and Fishtail (Machhapuchhare) (6,997m) becomes visible during the Ghorepani and Pun Hill Trek.
